Three scenarios for who might win big at this year’s prize giving.
The 2017 Cannes Film Festival is all but over. All that’s left to do is dole out the silverware. Yes, the competition selection this year was shaky to say the least, but something’s got to win. Here are three potential scenarios for how it might go down tonight.
This would be our perfect selection of winners, based on the films we loved.
Palme: The Beguiled by Sofia Coppola
Grand prix: You Were Never Really Here by Lynne Ramsay
Actor: Robert Pattinson in Good Time
Actress: Vasilina Makovtseva for A Gentle Creature
Director: Todd Haynes for Wonderstruck
Script: Robin Campillo for 120 Beats Per Minute
Jury: The Day After by Hong Sang-soo
We would be happy with this selection, based on what we think the jury might go for.
Palme: 120 Beats Per Minute by Robin Campillo
Grand prix: You Were Never Really Here by Lynne Ramsay
Actor: Robert Pattinson for Good Time
Actress: Nicole Kidman for The Beguiled / Sacred Deer
Director: Sofia Coppola for The Beguiled
Script: Loveless by Andrey Zvyagintsev
Jury: The Square by Ruben Östlund
Following bad awards for the previous two years, this is probably the most likely scenario.

Actor: Vincent Lindon for Rodin
Actress: Diane Kruger for for In the Fade
Director: Kornél Mundruczó for Jupiter’s Moon

The awards will be announced at 6pm (GMT) on Sunday 28 May
